McKay Mortgage has embraced changes in technology to streamline and improve the mortgage financing experience while still recognizing the importance of connecting with the client on a personal level.
Since 2019, Brendan has funded $492M in Volume and has been ranked in the Top 50 Mortgage Brokers Nationwide since 2020, as well as the Top 50 specifically for VA Mortgages.
In 2022 Brendan worked tirelessly to get HB809 passed in Maryland. HB809 allows 100% Disabled Veterans to apply for their real estate tax exemption prior to closing. This simple change added an average of over $50,000 in buying power for these Veterans and saved them thousands in tax escrows at closing.
In 2023, he helped get the same bill introduced in 7 other states, including Virginia, Michigan, California, Florida, Illinois, and Utah.
He has also advocated Federally, with successes in the reduction of the VA Funding Fee and modernization of the VA Appraisal Process.
Brendan resides in Chevy Chase, Maryland, with his family. He is a father to George and Helen McKay and a loving husband to Jennifer McKay. Brendan is a lifelong Washington Wizards fan. He is on the Board of the Bethesda Chamber of Commerce, Maryland Mortgage Bankers and Brokers Association, and the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board.
