Debbie Haberny
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting, I embarked on a career path that spanned two decades at Marriott International. I honed my skills in financial analysis and brilliant hospitality. While with Marriott, I held various management roles culminating in my position as Director of Finance and Accounting. I moved frequently and worked at various resorts across the country. These moves across the country often involved purchasing homes, selling homes and all the logistics that go along with that – I didn’t know it at the time, but it was great preparation for my future role as a Mortgage Broker. It was an exciting and challenging time for me but often exhausting and stressful with all the constant change. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry changed, and I made an unexpected pivot into the mortgage world. It didn’t take very long to discover a deep passion for the opportunity to help families and, especially, veterans in navigating the complex landscape of loan options and financial decisions. Serving those who have served our great nation has become an immense honor and source of fulfillment for me personally. My expertise lies not only in numbers and finance but also in my ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with others. I am known for my articulate communication style and for working seamlessly within diverse teams. Today, I am dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve their homeownership dreams, ensuring they make informed decisions that maximize their financial well-being. My journey from finance to mortgages has been a transformative experience, one that continues to drive my commitment to serving others and building brighter financial futures for those I assist.
About Debbie's VVA Rank
VVA4s are the professionals have earned this rank with time in service as well as exceeding minimum performance standards of VVA3. They have served a minimum of six months as a VVA3, met all performance metrics, and continued to submit their accountability tracking on time regularly. They will answer every question perfectly in accordance with the VA Lender Handbook guidelines, VA resources and, not just one lender's overlays. During these 6 months we are testing their hearts and minds. They will be the embodiment of our institutional core values of honor, courage, and commitment. We want to see the best showing up in VVA4; we want to see how they engage you, respond to your direct questions, and respond to questions that could benefit them but they will never take an individual position to gain through solicitation. We aim to achieve the change we want to find for you and protect you as a Veteran and Active Service Member. Changing the hearts and minds of those helping you is the only authentic way to make a difference. No regulation or rules will help because people are still the same in trying to find easy ways around rules. VVA4 are there to serve you because you serve our Country.
At VVA4 the professional will be eligible to serve as a Squad Leader. This challenge is to begin training peer to peer leadership in a unique way. These peers are not employees, they are not subordinates, they are unique peers that choose to follow and whose leadership must be earned. The minimum time spent in VVA4 will be approximately 1 year.
