Michael Wolff

Born and raised in NY, I moved to Los Angeles and became a pioneer of the “work from home” experience in the tech industry. But it wasn’t long before I realized that I wanted something more fulfilling, something that would truly make a difference in people’s lives. In 2005, I took a leap of faith and entered the mortgage world. Although I started with a retail lender, I quickly discovered that my passion lay in the broker channel, where I earned my broker license in 2006 and founded my own company. It was a risk, but it was worth it to pursue my dreams and make a meaningful impact.

After surviving the Great Recession of 2007-2009, getting married, and having two kids, the Covid lockdowns and subsequent ‘Zoom School’ were just too much. After some introspective soul-searching and discussions ensuring the wife that a much larger house was part of the plan, we decided to make a fresh start and relocate the family to Raleigh in the fall of 2020. We bought a house from across the country based on photos and video, sold the furniture, packed up our lives, hired movers, and then told our families of our plans. In that exact order.

In 2022, I made the decision to merge my company with UMortgage, driven by my desire to spend more time with the family and building relationships with clients and realtor partners. I realized that I wanted to focus on what I loved most – providing exceptional customer service and education to my clients while leaving the nitty-gritty aspects of running a company behind.

At the core of my business philosophy is the belief that strong relationships are the foundation of a successful mortgage experience. I go above and beyond to provide value to my clients, and it shows – they consider me a trusted friend and valued member of their extended family.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, BBQing, and practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu. These activities keep me grounded and energized, allowing me to approach each day with enthusiasm and focus.

About Michael's VVA Rank

VVA4s are the professionals have earned this rank with time in service as well as exceeding minimum performance standards of VVA3. They have served a minimum of six months as a VVA3, met all performance metrics, and continued to submit their accountability tracking on time regularly. They will answer every question perfectly in accordance with the VA Lender Handbook guidelines, VA resources and, not just one lender's overlays. During these 6 months we are testing their hearts and minds. They will be the embodiment of our institutional core values of honor, courage, and commitment. We want to see the best showing up in VVA4; we want to see how they engage you, respond to your direct questions, and respond to questions that could benefit them but they will never take an individual position to gain through solicitation. We aim to achieve the change we want to find for you and protect you as a Veteran and Active Service Member. Changing the hearts and minds of those helping you is the only authentic way to make a difference. No regulation or rules will help because people are still the same in trying to find easy ways around rules. VVA4 are there to serve you because you serve our Country.

At VVA4 the professional will be eligible to serve as a Squad Leader. This challenge is to begin training peer to peer leadership in a unique way. These peers are not employees, they are not subordinates, they are unique peers that choose to follow and whose leadership must be earned. The minimum time spent in VVA4 will be approximately 1 year.
