🚨 Step-by-Step Guide for the VA Portal Renewal Process 🚨

Hey everyone! VettedVa has been getting lots of questions about the VA portal renewal process from those emails we’ve all received. Turns out there’s an extra step that’s not immediately obvious. Mike Alberico went through it (and burned about an hour!), so here’s a quick guide to save you time and headaches:
EDIT 1:
adding in Mike Cox great info – You must complete this by 5/1/2025 or you will become inactive.
You should have received an email titled: Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Notice of Annual Renewal/Validation Open Period.
This email gives you directions on the renewal. However, it doesn’t tell you that you received another email titled: VA Program Management (PPM) PIN Refresh Notice
This pin is different than your normal PIN in Weblgy.
EDIT 2:
Tamala Stewart – added – I thought I’d add that you may want to search your email for the specific PPM pin refresh notice first. It comes from noreplysalesforce at va dot gov . This email has your actual PPM PIN number in it. This will save you a phone call hopefully. This particular email was stuck inside my website server and never reached it’s normal forwarding to my company email. So you may want to log into the server webmail account and search for it first.
Step-by-Step Instructions to ensure you’re good to go:
1️⃣ Log in to the VA Portal:
• Go to the VA ID site you normally use (like webLGY). https://lgy.va.gov/lgyhub/
• Tip: Log in to webLGY first because you’ll need both portals open with two-step authentication.
2️⃣ Authenticate:
• Sign in with ID.me, as you would for accessing appraisals or pulling keys.
• Complete your usual two-step authentication.
3️⃣ Navigate to Renewals and Validations:
• Look for the VRM Portal Renewals and Validations section (third option over).
• Click it, and a new screen will open.
4️⃣ Enter Your VA ID and Pin:
• Copy and paste your VA ID (or enter it manually if memorized).
• Use the PIN you were sent in the email.
• Important: Use the existing pin! (Resetting it didn’t work for me.)
5️⃣ Error Handling:
• If you get an error (e.g., “Incorrect Pin”), don’t stress! Contact the VA.
• If you can’t find the PIN emailed then you will need the following steps.
6️⃣ Contact the VA for Pin Help:
• Call (877) 827-3702.
• Choose Option 2 and provide your:
• Name
• Lender ID
• Current VA Pin
• The support team will verify your identity and provide the correct Pin (it’s often the original one you received).
7️⃣ Final Steps:
• Enter the correct Pin, double-check it (case-sensitive), and hit “Next.”
• You’re done! 🎉
💡 Pro Tip: Save your time and sanity by following these steps upfront. If you hit any roadblocks, feel free to reach out—we are happy to help!
Hope this helps, and good luck with the renewal!
